“ pH test“ est composé d’une sculpture et d’une vidéo où l’action a lieu sur un chantier. Cette pièce est la rencontre improbable de deux outils aux fonctionnalités radicalement différentes ; un dialogue entre excavation et analyse chimique du terrain. Le godet de pelleteuse est confectionné en tressage de bandelettes de papier pH, un indicateur universel qui prend instantanément la couleur correspondant au Ph du milieu. La fonctionnalité d’extraction du godet s’efface pour laisser agir cette nouvelle propriété. L’outil godet devient alors l’indicateur sensible du sol dans sa substance abstraite et invisible. La sculpture est exposée dans une vitrine hermétique munie d’un régulateur d’humidité afin de conserver la trace de son contact avec le sol pendant un
temps indéterminé.

pH test consists of a sculpture and a video where the action takes place on a construction site. This piece is the unlikely meeting of two tools which have radically different feature; a dialog between excavation and chemical analysis of the ground. The backhoe bucket is made of braided strips of pH paper, a universal indicator which instantly takes the color corresponding to the medium’s pH. The extraction feature of the bucket is fading away to let this new property act. The tool bucket becomes the sensitive indicator of the soil’s abstract and invisible substance. The sculpture is displayed in an hermetic showcase equipped with a humidity controller to keep track of its contact with the ground during an indefinite period.
